dive watch automatic or quartz - win

[Diving watch] Has anyone here actually dived with a diving watch? What sort of features would you look for on an actual diving watch?

Just for clarity, this is 100% general interest, I'm not looking to get into diving. I'm assuming a lot of the features commonly seen on divers- date windows, uneccesary design on the face, even automatic over quartz for accuracy- are typically design rather than practicalities focused, and would make it harder to check the time underwater. Obviously, depth matters, but I'd like to know what else goes into choosing a watch for diving. Is a rotating bezel something you'd actually use, or is it just a gimmick? Is there a go-to, near perfect diving watch? Any info on diving and watches appreciated, even if it's not specifically answering the questions asked here.

[SOTC/Suggestions] Super Humble Collection and Suggestion for a first luxury watch (Warning: really long post)

Howdy all,
After 7 years of collecting, I just wanted to finally show you guys my super humble collection that I am extremely proud of and absolutely adore.
A little bit of backstory. Like most users here in Watches, I randomly stumbled across this subreddit back in 2013 during my first year of college while I was sitting in biochem browsing reddit. I remember that exact week after finding Watches, I was searching endlessly for that perfect first timepiece. I ended up purchasing a simple Seiko quartz chronograph for around $110 and was in love with it - this watch has since been passed onto my brother since my style of watches has evolved since first discovering this hobby. But anyways here is the current collection with all the pieces in one picture: https://imgur.com/4q8KwVO. I'll also be asking you guys for suggestions for my first ever luxury watch purchase at the end of this post. Sorry for the bad quality pictures - never been much of a photographer.
  1. Seiko SKX013 (https://imgur.com/kk4ctF0): This is my first and only dive watch that I have in my collection. Prior to purchasing it, I was debating between the 007 or the 013. I finally decided on the 013 as I suffer from small wrist syndrome. After hitting the purchase button, I was reading up on the 007 and a lot of 007 owners stated that the 007 wears much smaller despite the 42mm diameter. I was kind of regretting purchasing the 013 after reading the comments from the 007 owners. However, once the 013 arrived on my doorstep and I put it on my wrist, I loved it. The mid-size dimensions fit perfectly on my 6.75 inch wrist and has a more subtle presence on the wrist despite being a dive watch.
  2. Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic 38mm ref. H70455533 (https://imgur.com/TJTX3gs): Currently my favorite piece in my collection. The watch fits like a glove. I cannot get over the style and elegance of this piece. This is, in my opinion, the best casual watch. It literally goes well with every casual outfit on a weekend night out with your friends. I bought this piece as a celebratory gift to myself for graduating from university and also getting into one of the top nursing schools in the country in the same summer.
  3. Orient Vintage Power Reserve ref. FFD0F002B (https://imgur.com/GF4BJmS): This was kind of a random and unexpected purchase. I was browsing Amazon one evening and came across this watch for a great price so I just pulled the trigger. It has a power reserve complication so I thought it would make a unique addition to the collection. This piece doesn't get must wrist time at all (I think the last time I wore it was well over a two years ago) but I still love it.
  4. Yema Rallygraf Panda ref YMHF1572-BU (https://imgur.com/eieJajS): This is the most recent purchase I've made and is by far the coolest watch I have. I've always envied the Paul Newman Daytona but would never be able to get my hands on one and if I did, I would not be able to afford the 200k+ price tag on it. I've searched around for a cool panda chronograph throughout the years but have never found one that I really loved. While browsing the Yema site about a month ago after hearing about their Black Friday sale, I came across this Rallygraf panda and that it was currently on sale for $280. Once I saw that it had the Seiko V64 mecha-quartz movement and a 39mm case, I immediately pulled the trigger. When it arrived in the mail two weeks ago and I unboxed it, I knew this was a purchase that I did not regret one bit.
  5. Seiko Chronograph SND367 (https://imgur.com/fOW0hTf): Do you guys remember this popular post a few years back? When that post hit my front page feed on reddit, I had to get it after seeing how great the price was for a JDM piece. The dimensions and the looks of it was perfect. i used some of the Christmas money I got that year to purchase this piece. This watch receives the most wrist time out of all the watches i have. It came on a janky bracelet that I wasn't a fan of and just replaced it with a Barton strap. Wears so comfortably and is kind of my beater watch (but I do take extreme care of it - only small hairline scratches and no dents or dings on the case).
  6. Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical ref. H69439531 (https://imgur.com/wd4tbVf): This piece here I got about a year ago. After graduating from nursing school and passing my nursing board exams, I had to get something for myself to mark this milestone in my life and as a memento of the start of my career as an RN. After about two months of looking at what watch to get, I pulled the trigger on this Khaki Field Mechanical. It had a vintage look and feel to it which I loved but what mainly attracted me to it was that its design inspiration was based off the MIL-W-3818B which were issued by the government to the troops who were sent off to the Vietnam war in the 60s. Being an avid amateur war historian and with nursing having such rich history in the military, I decided that this was the most suitable watch to add into my collection to mark the start of my career as a nurse.
  7. Orient Bambino Version 3 (2nd generation) ref. SAC0000CA0 (https://imgur.com/ifVfTyz): This was a total impulse buy. A few months after the Bambino V3 2nd generation came out, I saw an eBay posting on this watch for $80 brand new shipped from Japan. I originally thought it was defective or a scam but saw the good reputation the seller had. Decided to roll the dice and bought it. Luckily the watch was perfect. Only thing is that it runs really fast (+40sec/day - could be magnetized). It's a nice little versatile dressy piece that goes well with a suit but doesn't look out of place when worn with jeans and a t shirt.
  8. Tissot Le Locle Automatic ref T41.1.423.53 (https://imgur.com/dpK3glC): I got this watch as a gift from my parents during a family trip to Asia back in 2015. We were in Singapore visiting the Sentosa island resort and I was just browsing the watches at a boutique called the Swiss Watch Gallery. I was looking at this specific watch at the boutique and was thinking about buying it but decided not to as it was too expensive for me at that time and I didn't have a summer job that year. A few days later when we were in Kuala Lumpur while in the mall below the Petronas Twin Towers, my parents asked if I wanted to stop by the Tissot boutique there just to take another look at the watch. I told them that I wasn't going to buy the watch. They then said it'll be a gift from them to me and as a souvenir of our family trip to Asia. I was completely ecstatic and was incredibly grateful. It actually ended up being a little cheaper than buying it back home due to the currency rate and it being tax free when we claimed it at the airport on our way home. It's also worth mentioning that this model has the ETA 2824-2 movement. This was before Tissot replaced the 2824-2 with their Powermatic 80 movement.
  9. Seiko SARB033 (https://imgur.com/HgkENVW): The poor man's Grand Seiko. I've always loved Grand Seiko from the beginning. The conservative design of their watches just attracted me to them since day one. But being a student at that time, I did not have 5K to drop on a GS. So when I came across the SARB033 I knew I had to get it. i purchased this watch from Seiya Japan. Prior to buying it, I reached out to Seiya to inquire some general information and this man was seriously the most professional individual I have ever interacted with online. He also took extreme care when sending the watch. When it arrived, the packaging was immaculate. You could tell he took extreme care and time packaging this watch for shipping so that it arrives safely. I highly recommend buying from Seiya Japan.
  10. Timex Marlin Reissue ref. TW2R47900V3 (https://imgur.com/pAdLArF): I love the aesthetics of the 60s and have considered buying a vintage watch from that era. However, I never dipped my toes into the world of vintage timepieces so I don't exactly know what to look out for when buying vintage. This Timex Marlin reissue was the perfect watch to scratch that vintage watch itch without the worries of buying a vintage watch.
  11. G Shock G-Rescue G7900-1 (not pictured): I currently use this watch as my work watch. Being a nurse, I need a watch that is extremely water resistant and can take a huge beating. I got this watch at the beginning of nursing school knowing that I needed something durable. This watch has been with me through all clinical rotations throughout nursing school and it currently my work watch as an RN.
So what do you guys think of my current collection?
Also, after 7 years of building that humble collection, I have finally decided to purchase my first ever luxury watch in the upcoming new year. I'm looking to spend up to $3500CAD max. Currently, I am looking at the Nomos Orion ref. 309 or the Nomos Tangente ref. 139. I am really torn between the two right now. The Orion has a more timeless design which I think would age better. The Tangente has a modern Bauhaus design that I love but i'm not sure if it would age as nicely as the Orion. What do you guys think about these two? Any other watches you guys suggest I look into? My criteria is sub 38mm size, stainless steel case (no gold plating), and sub $3500CAD.
I hope you guys enjoyed my SOTC post. Sorry for this post being so long. I'm just extremely proud of my collection and just wanted to share it with you guys. Thank you for taking the time to read through and looking at this post. Hope you guys have an amazing weekend!
Cheers!

Dead People With Something To Say 0.7: John Dee

DEAD PEOPLE WITH SOMETHING TO SAY 0.7
An ongoing project consisting of a collection of biographies of people that have been overlooked in the annals of history. Categorised as counterculture, pseudoscience and absolute lunacy these individuals were not listened to whilst they lived and it’s only upon re-evaluation it becomes clear that a distinct pattern of thought has been suppressed throughout history and has shaped the society we live in today.

John Dee
We can say little about modern occultism without it connecting back in some fashion to the work of Mr John Dee.

Who He Was

Born to Roland and Johanna Dee in 1527, John spent the best years of his life as the consigliere to Queen Elizabeth the 1st and coined terms such as “The British Empire” whilst using Astrology to inform the Queens expansion of the empire in the 16th century. He used to sign his name as “007” and stands as the conceptual foundation for Ian Fleming’s James Bond series, he also acts as a early example of how occult practices can inform intelligence and military excursions.
In the latter half of Dee’s life we see a decline in reputation, wealth and mental and physical health as he begins to peruse a series of conversations with angels using a young man by the name of Edward Kelley as a medium.
It’s this juxtaposition of credible claims that make the life of John Dee such a fascinating one.
As a man that definitely existed, little allegory is necessary to decipher the intentions of Mr Dee.
He spent the first half of his life directing the British Empire and then left this cause to dive head first into the world of the infallible, the ludicrous and the unknown.
Through a modern lens this decision might signify a fall from grace and many of Dee’s peers took this stance.
After Dee’s public reputation had been tarnished due to his spiritual exercises reaching the public’s consciousness, he fled in disgrace to Eastern Europe and held meetings with several members of the Polish royal family before returning home to find his house ransacked and his persona vilified. Despite this soiling of his image Elizabeth still took pity on him and made him the Warden of the Manchester Cathedral, a position he remained in till his death in 1609.
Now to a skeptical eye the tale of John Dee may come across as interesting, sure, but largely significant only for the historical impact his assistance to Queen Elizabeth had on the expansion of the British Empire but this author is willing to out on a limb and say it is the occult workings of Mr Dee that have influenced the world we live in today more than any other aspect of his life.
Conversations with angels.

What He Said

A ridiculous concept from the get go.
Angels aren’t real therefore Mr Dee was simply a sufferer of a mental alignment like Schizophrenia right?
Any writings garnered from this phenomenon should be relegated to the category of the ravings of a madman and have no bearing on the rational world of science that we live in today, if that is, we live in the world one thought we lived in that has been built upon scientific thought and rationality?
I wouldn’t be so fast to dismiss the frenzied visions of Mr Kelley or any perpetrated medium offering revelations from the astral plane.
Besides, two of the worlds most popular religions have been formed off of this basis.
The narratives that surround the origins of the Islamic and Mormon faiths both feature a very similar tale to the one of John Dee.
All three men spent time deprived from their senses, communicating with a perceived otherworldly intelligence and all three wrote volumes of writings regarding and “from” the perceived entity. Mohammed and Joseph Smith have large followings as of 2020 and Islam and Mormonism are household names so why have the writings of John Dee fly under the radar?
Maybe it had something to do with the content of what John and Edward were being told by these so called angels. The initial concept of a channeling, or mediumship or in short speaking with a deity is so knee jerking in itself that 99% of the time the baby is thrown out with the bath water.
Because the idea itself is so ludicrous we rarely get around to actually reading the information that was channeled and I believe it is here where a large amount of the skepticism developed when discussing channeled works.
To understand the angels’s dialogues one must me familiar with the biblical character Enoch) and the associated apocrypha that refers to him.
Apocrypha is simply a religious work that refers to the main doctrine of a regime on but is not considered “canon)” by the representing organisation that surrounds a religion.
From the Church’s point of view it’s fan fiction but in a case such as the Dead Sea Scrolls some of the oldest copies of the legitimate Bible books were found in a cave near the Red Sea alongside comparatively old versions of a smattering of Christian and Jewish Apocrypha, including a certain Book of Enoch..
It’s this “coincidence” that allows one to say that maybe the church’s ousting of apocrypha is motivated not but truth but by control. This implication becomes clear once one understands what the narrative of the Book of Enoch brings the table from storytelling point of view.
You may have heard the name Enoch listed in the descendants of Adam and Eve after they are kicked out of the Garden of Eden. They begat Cain, Able and Seth and started a lineage of humans that pass down the story of man in the garden with the serpent.
This tale takes place in between the expulsion of AandE from Eden but before Noah’s flood and is referred to a the Antediluvian period, the time of The War In Heaven or the Titanomachy.
These three words correspond to different cultures speaking upon the same period of time. The Sumerian’s, the Abrahamic Religions and the Ancient Greeks are the three listed here but every single religion and culture has a word to describe this period of time.
It’s seems to refer to a period of time where:
  1. The “gods” that created humanity still roamed the earth in the fashion we do today.
  2. Gods interfered with the affairs of man..
  3. Man, in lieu of Science and Rationality, was subservient to a force we now refer to as “god, terms to describe this force are in the thousands and contain but are not limited to El), Ba’al, Elohim, The Watchers and their offspring the Nephillim), The Anunnaki, The Titans), The Ennead... the list goes on.
  4. By the time big JC (Jesus) is rolling into Bethlehem, possibly by the time of Ezekiel roughly around 600 BC, this force no longer appears on the physical plane. It only appears to “chosen” individuals or mediums and a large amount of ritualistic preparation is required to initiate contact. This period of time also marks a sharp rise in divination techniques such as the casting of lots, scrying and trance states were utilised to communicate with our estranged creator.
This set up to the story of the Book of Enoch is required so one can understand what the intelligences John Dee was in communication with were trying to say in the context of the cultural period Dee lived in and the perpetrated time period these so called angels were from.
Enoch is a seventh generation descendant of Adam and Eve and great grandfather to Noah. His mentions in a bogstandard common bible are minimal and only small references his ascents to heaven occur.
One of note would be shortly before Noah’s flood and is a mere mention in the Genealogy of Adam to Noah. It simply states, like the 6 preceding ancestors on the list, that Enoch was born to Jared and was the father of Methuselah, in the same fashion as preceding entries. Enoch is significant because there is a small addition to his entry on the Birth to Birth checklist compared to his ancestors.
Each patriarch’s age is listed and in keeping with pre-flood oddities people were seemingly living to, by today’s standards, unprecedented ages.
Adam lived to 930 and his descendants fare similarly but Enoch is only reported as living for a measly 365 years by comparison and does not “die” in the traditional sense but instead is “taken by God” and is always referred to as “the one who did not see death”.
Otherwise in the basic modern version of the Christian Bible this is the full extent of the explanation of Enoch’s life and can be considered a footnote. A cryptic message to be easily brushed past. Which brings us around to the Book of Enoch. Antediluvian literature is particularly difficult to come by namely due to the ambiguity of what was actually happening. Each culture puts their own perspective lens on the situation but what can be construed from looking at a cross section of these pre-flood narratives is that this period of time represented a time when man was on the path the serpent had put us on leading to our exile from Eden of becoming gods and seeming the gods weren’t best pleased about the coming workers unionisation.
I’m going to list a few ancient tales that elude to this time period so one can really pain a picture of what the allegory for this narrative is and paint a vibrant image of the period in ones head.
It is the Sumerian tale of Enki and Enlil that provides us with our context for a War occurring within heaven.
According to Sumerian tradition humans were created to carry the workload of the gods. They were preceded by a race of smaller workers called the Igigi who revolted against upper management (their creator, the gods, Anunaki ect) and this was the catalyst for designing Humanity.
A worker that didn’t revolt.)
This is the precedent for the points listed earlier. “Gods” and man lived together and gods intervened in the affairs of man.
Some clarification surrounding the word “gods” is required here.
To understand the difference between a “god” with a small g like Zeus or Enki and the overarching architect of the universe (ie God with a big G), one must look to what Gnostic scriptures called “The Demierge”.
This concept relates to the supposed God that appeared to have built Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden and suggests that this god was a sort of self-obsessed egotistical being) that did truly believe it was the creator of the universe whilst mearly being a imposter. Christian imagery has led us into think of “God” as a bearded man in the sky that namely has our best intentions at heart but when one consults the scripture this simply doesn’t seem to be the case. In fact, our father who art in heaven actually seems quite temperamental if the Torah is anything to go by.
Man’s relationship with God in the Torah is akin to one of parent and small child.
Parent lays down law and leaves to go about errands. Child disobeys ruling. Parent “comes down” and disciplines whilst citing jealousy as the motivation for his anger.
This occurs numerous times from the Garden of Eden to Mt Sinai and loops back round to the story of Enki and Enlil.
See in the Sumerian tale Enlil and Enki have equal parts in creating humanity and each have opposing views of their creation.
Enlil sees man as subservient to Gods and has little empathy for his creation whilst Enki may be seen as the fun uncle of humanity, passing in knowledge when possible and even alerting the Sumerian Noah to upcoming flood. So we can see that the Catholic narrative seemingly is a simplification off the original Sumerian and by amalgamating all this confusing Enki/Enlil business into one simple “God” figure removes the ability for one to discern the personality and aspirations of a deity.
Quite a convenient standpoint for a religion that has used its doctrine for the mass control of the entire population to have isn’t it?
Don’t confuse yourself with all this different gods and deities business, just think of it as a big bearded man in the sky that will send you to hell if you don’t obey his rules.
That seems to be the mantra of the Catholic Church and it is for this reason that scripture like the Book of Enoch, whilst still being found with some of the oldest copies of the bible humanity has to date, get relegated to the nonsense pile.
So basically what I’m saying is, is that the Catholic Church, who’s book is mostly considered to be nonsense by most of the general public, are aware of a large amount of texts that have been discovered alongside texts they consider to be “sacred” but consider “some” of them to be pseudepigraphal in nature and it is this authors assumption that this has been done to deter the masses from understand the true nature of god.
With all this in mind we can now talk about Enoch and his role as a patriarch.
In the Book of Enoch, Enoch is known in his native land as a medium of sorts. He analyses dreams, can see the gods and brings knowledge to the physical world from heaven. It states that the things he sees and brings back from heaven will not transpire to his generation but a future generation to come. It also details the tale of The Watchers, angels that have been cast out of Heaven for disobeying god that have reproduced with earthly women to create what is known as the Nephillim, Anak or GriGori which can be imagined as Giants and Cyclopes, Sasquatch or Yeti like creatures or through a modern scientific lens Dinosaurs and Large Sea Creatures.
Basically genetic monstrosities that our creator wants destroying.
These angels or Watchers are led by Azazel who is represented in the common day bible by a Goat that has had humanity’s sins placed upon it and cast out into the desert. The very origin of the word scapegoat can be found from this tale and the origins of Satan or Baphomet having a goats head stem from this tale.
Another example of how the devils of the catholic dogma are simply well designed smear campaigns against elements of the philosophical landscape that the church wanted suppressed due to their revolutionary nature and depiction of the true nature of god.
It is useful to consult the Islamic scripture on this issue as Azazel and Enoch are both very present in the Quran along with this entire War in Heaven narrative.
In fact in the Muslim version it is God himself that challenges three angel to live as men to and try to not fall to the temptation of sin and that is how we end up with our Nephillim situation.
It also touches on the menial nature of the wants and actions of gods in comparison to the compassionate needs of humanity.
The Hindus say that what we are currently experiencing is a gods dream and Gnostic scriptures talk of a god of nothingness and order bringing about chaos and existence simply out of boredom so for Azazel being known as the scapegoat in allegorical Christian scripture begins to start to make more sense.
Enoch is also know in Islamic scripture as the angel Idris and can be affiliated with the Christian Metatron.
It is implied that the angels were sent down to teach righteousness but were tempted into sin and because of this we have the Nephillim.
Whilst all sin is said to come from Azazel, the set up for this transpiring was instigated by higher management. Azazel is said to have taught man the skills of metal work, cosmetics and deception and this is the crime that gets him banished from heaven in the first place. It is said that the learning of these facets led to bloodshed and godlessness. To be blunt, people were eating and fucking one another with no regard for respect or decency and this isn’t good for the sustainability of humanity and therefore god is angered.
Hence a flood is coming to cleanse this wrongdoing and the resulting Nephillim or offspring of this a period of godlessness are receiving nightmares regarding the upcoming rapture.
It is Enoch that is called upon to decipher the dreams and direct the giants through the use of Hekalot literature.
Hekalot and Merkaba mysticism relate to a selection of Jewish texts that have been held close to the orthodoxies chest for centuries. Kabbalah texts also fall under this bracket and all three can be described as texts that facilitate or inform one on the nature, how to communicate with and how to travel through the realm of God.
All three of these categories of scripture have rules surrounding them and prior to the advent of the internet revealing these ancient topics was punishable and only a rabbi could only teach them to the most accomplished student.
Although these are fascinating points of research and well worth spending time upon, right now all you need to know is that these texts collect the information these supposed fallen angels gave to humanity and for that reason are considered highly holy and have been kept secret for centuries only to be studied by the upper echelons of the Jewish and Christian hierarchies.
As we know the flood does come and wipe clean the abominations that covered the earth leaving only Noah, being the only survivor and witness of the old way, to repopulate the world with a sustainable genealogy. The renegade angels get relegated to the fiery pits of Sheol and we move towards an era when gods are simply a word of mouth idea not something one sees.
It is only at this point, with this context now in place, that we can return to the life of John Dee for to understand the significance of the mans findings one must be aware of the above narratives.
For the angels that Edward Kelly and Dee apparently spoke to were the very same angels that led the War in Heaven and their writings provide a continuation of the narrative that begin 1,500 years or more prior.
Edward Kelly met John Dee at the age of 27, being nearly 30 years younger than Dee at the time of their meeting and was fairly instantly thrown into the world of what is known today as Enochian mysticism.
One may begin to see why the lengthy setup describing Enoch’s life was now necessary.
See Dee himself had been attempting to communicate with angels on his own for months via Crystal ball gazing to no avail and was looking for a young susceptible medium to take on the more physically demanding evocations.
It is at this point in John Dee’s tale that the author became rather perplexed at the reality of what seemed to transpire.
Seemingly Mr Kelly would meet up with Mr Dee at his house in Mortlake, Kelly would induce a trance state by either gazing into a mirror or crystal ball or by ingesting a mysterious red powder that has yet to be identified and would begin to talk to the angels. Kelly would relay what they said back to Dee and Dee would act as scribe and take down whatever was being said.
Now this could all be written off as schizophrenic ramblings but there are few points of interest that might make even the most skeptical individual raise an eyebrow.
  1. This partnership went on for 7 years. Either party had plenty of time to either leave or contest the legitimacy of these visions.
  2. Kelly actually did “escape” Dee’s captivity and ran away only to come back citing that the work they had been conducting was too important.
  3. Kelly received physical damage from these angels in the form of scars, bruises and apparent blindness at one point.
  4. An entire language referred to as Enochian as been derived from Dee and Kelly’s sessions and is still used today in the Golden Dawn and Thelemic traditions.
  5. This endeavour tarnished Dee’s public persona and by the end of his life was living mostly off charity from others.
These three points raise large scale concern regarding the perpetrated lunacy of Dee’s occult endeavours and this is without considering what the angels were actually apparently saying.
If we consider the depictions of the angels from back in Noah’s day they do seem physical in nature and seem to have long standing effect on the physical world. Compare this to the era of Dee and Kelly and they only appear after being summoned and a medium is required to hear their message. Almost like they have been banished or relegated to a space where remote access to this plane is available to them.
From Sheol to Earth.
It seems to imply that in a roundabout sense the apocryphal narrative is correct, these intelligences are no longer physical and can only impact on humanity through an avatar so to speak.
Which speaks to the idea from the antediluvian story that angels were bound to earth until judgment day in a very literal sense at least in this authors opinion. To elaborate on what I mean one may look into the nature of the domaine as to where the angels were "bound" after the Flood, the history of the construction of transistors and the use of precious rocks in their construction.
The device you are using to read this relies on precious stones and it is that concept that one must understand to see where we are now.
If you can see the synergy between
Then you are on the right path to having a chance at understanding what is going on.
From their earthbound prison they foretold of a coming apocalypse, in the same vain as was told in the Book of Revelation and in the revelations of Enoch, although this apocalypse was a coming event not one that was currently transpiring. They spoke with a tone of contempt for humanity and preached a message of detaching from the physical world to dwell in prayer until a time when gods wrath would condemn the malevolent force back to from whence it came.
The prophecy speaks with an abundance of familiar biblical terms like Babylon, The Bottomless Pit and The Rising Dragon which all sound very dated and hard to picture but seen through the correct lens they speak upon the world we live in today. Observing the synergy between the systems of Dee and Kelly with the work of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and subsequently the works of Aleister Crowley and Jack Parsons one can see how hypothetically there is a non-visible intelligence attempting to warn humanity of an oncoming event.
Enoch’s Prophecies
To
The Book of Revelation
To
Mohammed's Cave Visions
To
Dee and Kelly’s Watchtowers
To
Joesph Smith and the Golden Plates
To
The Aeon of Horus
To
The Babalon Working
To
The Channeled Works of the 1950’s UFO Flap
We consider each of these an individual case of madness that has no baring in the physical rational world, but combine them together and you have a longstanding tradition of humanity communicating with a force of a higher nature. There would be no point in covering the above cases without prior knowledge of Dee’s attempts to commune with this intelligence and this speaks to why Dee has been covered at this juncture in this series.
The others will follow.

Why It Matters

In the interest of attempting to wrap this up, the point of this whole spiel would be to point out the lunacy that is John Dee’s entire existence.
Much like this series itself, the sum of the total parts of Dee’s existence make him worth talking about.
His entire ideology should be relegated to the realms of insanity yet his angel summoning table made entirely of beeswax is on show at the British Museum and it’s things like this that leads one to believe that somebody somewhere takes Dee’s Enochian excursions seriously.
In the public eye his efforts have been recognised by many contemporary figures such as;
It is a this juncture that we begin to see the reason for entertaining the life of Mr Dee at all.
Although esoteric nature of his life’s work relegates it’s deciphering to a select group of dedicated occultists, Dee is still a household name to many for his position next to Queen Elizabeth and his contributions to the coinage and expansion of the British Empire and whilst this may be the capacity he is now most well known for as the age of information progress and characters like Crowley and Parsons have their well deserved day in the spotlight, it will be an analysis of Dr Dee’s Enochian Adventures that will really offer a fruitful bounty of first hand knowledge from the a higher intelligences itself.
Until next time here at MIPLTD, Ølund wishes you a fruitful day and restful evening 🙌

Hi guys! Today I have a lot more shit that I don't need and would like to sell. Just to go over the basics:
Stats: 5'11 --- 185lbs (Slim Thicc), I usually wear a medium, but like oversized. Shoe Size is 10.5 (But I'm weird and shop for shoes from 9.5 - 11)
When an item is sold I'll mark a strikethrough, I'll try to keep up with responses best I can, in order of comments.
/////Prices are including shipping on EAST COAST if you live on the WEST COAST or MIDWEST add $5//////
Prices are firm and including shipping costs to CONUS.
While prices are firm, I will give bundle deals for people who buy 2+ items. As it will also save on shipping costs.
-Bundles will take priority-
If you'd like additional pics / fit pics etc, let me know!
PLEASE PUT "CHAT" or "PM" IN COMMENTS. Makes life easier for me so that no one gets annoyed :)

Item Rep/Retail Sizing Notes Price
Louis Vuitton Denim Jacket Rep M (Slightly oversized) Absolutely love this piece. So fire, bought off BST, supposedly it's from Logan. Great fit and finish. $80
Supreme Bogo Shibuya Tee Rep M Nice Bogo tee, liked it for being a little different from regular bogos. $15
Supreme Hoodie Retail M Really comfy hoodie, got it a few months ago before I got back into reps. Expected high-quality hoodie from Supreme. Love this piece. Was bought for $150, selling for $120
Superdry Hoodie Retail M (TTS) Got this when I was on a trip, comfy as hell. Just never wear it. $20
Guess x A$AP Tee Retail M (TTS) Fuckin banger tee. Got a few years ago and fell in love with it. I think I have worn like 3 times max, mainly just stays in the closet. $70
Club Monaco Linen Jacket Retail M (TTS) Almost hopes this doesn't sell haha. It's a superb quality driving style jacket that I've had for a few years now. Always looks slick as hell. Has two zippers as well. $60
Gucci "Blind for love" Robe Rep M fit, arms are slim. Absolutely love this piece! It's got this crazy tiger on the back with this kind of boxer robe aesthetic. I just don't wear that much. $40
Drink Beer Save Water Pullover (Blue) Retail One Size Fits All A very, very unique and rare piece from my recent Cali trip. It's a pullover that's very oversized. It's a statement piece. $45 Shipped (Willing to discount a bit) - I paid 130 or so after tax.
Guess Sweatshirt Retail M Nice, vintage-inspired piece. Fits nice. $20
Gucci Swim Trunks Rep M (Prolly be better for S) Gucci monogrammed swim trunks, only ever tried on. My thighs are too big. Nice flex at the pool. $25
Ralph Lauren Blue Jeans Retail Fit 33-34 Waist Really nice blue jeans, love the aging on it. $15
Homme Plissey Pleat style Pants Rep fits 30 - 34 Waist Banger, these are popular for a reason. So comfy and breathable. Pleats are a wonderful added cool factor. $45
Ralph Lauren Black/Grey Jeans Retail Fits 33-34 Waist Nice and simple black jeans, a subtle wash on them. $15

The initial concept of a channeling, or mediumship or in short speaking with an deity is so knee jerking that 99% of the time the baby is thrown out with the bath water.
Because the idea itself is so ludicrous we rarely get around to actually reading the information that was channeled and I believe it is here where a large amount of the skepticism developed when discussing channeled works.
To understand the Angels dialogues one must me familiar with the biblical character Enoch) and the associated apocrypha that refers to him.
This period of time also marks a sharp rise in divination techniques such as the casting of lots, scrying and trance states were utilised you communicate with our estranged creator.
Seemingly Mr Kelly would meet up with Mr Dee at his house in Mortlake, Kelly would induce a trance state by either gazing into a mirror or crystal ball or by ingesting a mysterious red powder that has yet to be identified and begin to talk to the angels.

In the public eye his efforts have been recognised by many contemporary figures such as;
It is a this juncture that we begin to see the reason for entertaining the life of Mr Dee at all.
Although the esoteric nature of his life’s work relegates it’s deciphering to a select group of dedicated occultists, Dee is still a household name to many for his position next to Queen Elizabeth and his contributions to the coinage and expansion of the British Empire and whilst this may be the capacity he is now known as the age of information progress and characters like Crowley and Parsons have their well deserved day in the spotlight, it will be an analysis of Dr Dee’s Enochian Adventures that will really offer a fruitful bounty of first hand knowledge from the a higher intelligences itself.
Until next time here at MIPLTD, Ølund wishes you a fruitful day and restful evening 🙌

[Orient Neptune] -It's the gauge dammit!

[Orient Neptune] -It's the gauge dammit!
This is my (fairly) recently acquired Orient Neptune. I had pretty much given up on automatics. I have a few other automatic watches (Omega Seamaster, Tempest Viking 2, Seiko Turtle). I was always "worried" about the stand by capacity on my other watches. I would constantly be shaking my arm to "make sure" it had enough charge left especially to make it through the night. I also got a little tired of the accuracy (or lack thereof) of my other automatics. I want an accurate watch to you know, tell me the correct time! I have quite a few "Atomic Time" Casio G-Shocks and Pro-Treks to satisfy that need for accuracy.
This Orient Neptune has changed my mind on both issues described above. It is accurate. So far it is +2.06 seconds in two months. That is better than some quartz watches I have! It also has a power reserve indicator. No more shaking the arm/watch unnecessarily.
Yeah, I know, leather band on a dive watch, but this works for me.

Help me pull the trigger: Seiko vs. Citizen [Diver]

TL;DR - Choosing between the below-mentioned watches, both having advantages and drawbacks, I humbly come before you for your thoughts, experiences, and recommendations. If you feel another watch at this price point might be worth mentioning, please share. Thank you!
Hello good people, you fine, fine, Japanese watch enthusiasts.
So, a few years back I fell in love with the Seiko Samurai Save The Ocean, but somehow I ended up choosing an SKX007 for myself, and I was thrilled with, so much so that I gave it to my father as a present, and continued wearing some of my smartwatches, and my old Russian Raketa (Paketa) watch.
Recently, my crush on the Samurai reignited, and I was happy to learn that the 2019 version, the Great White Shark was out for a while and that it's quite the looker along with being a great timekeeping piece. Of course, the fact it's a Seiko is also great, as I'm more than certain that every single person who knows what's what in horology appreciates them, some to a greater, some to a lesser extent.
Then a few weeks ago, I was walking past a watch store, and I spotted the magnum that is the Citizen BN2031-85e, and highly appreciating how robust it looked, I went inside to try it on. I was pleasantly surprised by the way it held itself on my wrist, and I was more than impressed by its thickness and overall wrist presence, along with the diver-specific functions that it has, that I haven't really seen in a lot of watches, this, of course, is the depth sensor, which can tell you what's the biggest depth you were in, and what's your current depth as well.
And now, I'm torn between which one to pick.
Seiko has some things which I'd consider advantages, that being an automatic movement, the 4R35, which I'm sure most of you know, which along with hacking and hand-winding, is something that's more than nice, as it'll basically make keeping precise timing easier, due to the fact that it's easily set. Having to set it because it's +/-30 second loss or gain would, however, be a flaw. Some other advantages that I'd count would be that it's a "limited edition" which brings a certain uniqueness factor to it (even though it's "limited" to probably around a million pieces or more), especially considering that beautiful blue wave-pattern dial, that basically no other watch (apart from the Save The Ocean Turtle) will have. Another really important thing is that I believe it can be more versatile, meaning that I can wear it in my slippers with a T-shirt and that it would at the same time look more than appropriate on a shirt and tie combo if the occasion wasn't too formal, but even then, I think it'd blend into the outfit well, not poking people's eyes too much as a diving tool, yet still receiving admiration from people in the know.
On the other hand, the Citizen has some specifics which make it unique in a different way. The sensor for depth measuring is one of them, and as mentioned previously, that's quite unique, at least in my book. That canon on the left side of its case is also something that looks amazing and is not seen on a lot of watches, if on any. Even though the print on the dial its own is quite plain, the battery-charge displayer (if I can call it that) is great, but since it's an Eco-Drive, I'm not really sure that it's necessary, as I've read that 36 hours under direct sunlight will keep this watch running for a number of months. Eco-Drive is another thing as well. Even though this, as you guys probably know even better than me, makes it a Quartz, is something as I see as a variable thing. On one hand, it's much more precise, removing the need to wind it when it gains/loses, and with that, removing all the hassle from the simple process of actually setting the time on an automatic. Even though this is a minor issue, it will still occur every few days on the Seiko, or at least once a week, and in the long run, I see that as a potential pain. The last thing that I would say is the flaw with the Citizen is that it's huge. Not only the diameter but the depth of the case as well. I'm more than certain it would go great with some relaxed, sporty, or casual outfits, but I think it'd be quite out of place if it was a suit and tie event that I was supposed to wear it to.
The last thing that I think is worth noting, that even though both are 200m certified divers, the Citizen has 60 clicks on the bezel, as compared to a more standard (better) 120 clicks on the Seiko. Of course, another thing that needs to be taken into account is that with this level of divers, Seiko can have poor quality control, which often translates into misalignments when looking at the dial and the bezel.
One final thing that I'll mention is, that even though I dive from time to time, I have yet to do it scuba-style, which I still don't have in my plans, but is, of course, never excluded - this saying that the depth sensor on the Citizen is not something that I'll use for the time being, but is, of course, a really nice feature in term of uniqueness, something that'll give more story, equaling non-monetary value, and a nice subject for "bragging" if the watch is ever discussed (and I'm guessing that with its appearance, and the length of time that I'm planning to own it, will certainly happen).
So, what do you guys think? The people's champ, or the technical contender?
Thank you for reading through this, it's as long as a high school essay, and thank you for your thoughts in advance. Also, if you think there are some worthy suggestions in this price class, feel free to point them out, and what you think might make be a potentially better choice than these.

Also, if you think there are some worthy suggestions in this price class, feel free to point them out, and what you think might make be a potentially better choice than these.
p.s. I hope I didn't break any rules by posting this, if I did, sorry mods

[QUESTION] [SSC019] Prospex Solar dive chrono going into sleep mode or broken?

Hi Seiko peeps.
Been a Seiko fan forever but somehow just found this sub.
I have a possible issue with my SSC019 Pepsi bezel solar dive watch. I can't seem to get it to stay alive for more than a day or two max. I recall that the power reserve was somewhere in the 6 month range when fully charged. I didn't recall that there was any kind of a power save feature where the watch goes dormant if not moved for a certain period of time. The watch does come back alive when I pull the crown and set the time.
I wear a couple dozen different watches on a regular basis, falling back on my quartz TAG Formula just because it is always set and extremely comfortable. I have grown to hate setting automatic watches every single time I put one on. I am however finding myself wearing this Seiko more and more. I got it to replace my similar looking Kinetic which kept blowing power units.
It is about three years old but I do not recall that I had to reset the watch during the first few years. The first time I did recall seeing to stopped was after sitting in my watch box for at least a couple of months. Is my watch failing? Am I just not letting it fully charge when I do reset it and wear it? It is beginning to annoy me and since I got it from Costco, I don't think any factory warranty exists (not that it would after three years anyway).
Thoughts?

All types of divination

· Apantomancy: A form of divination in which a chance meeting with an animal is interpreted by the seer based on their experiences and current situation.
· Arithmancy: A form of divination based on assigning numerical value to a word or phrase, by means of a simplified version of ancient Greek isopsephy or Hebrew/Aramaic gematria, as adapted to the Latin alphabet. When arithmancy is applied to a person's name, it is a form of onomancy.
· Astrology: While astrology isn't solely a divination tool, some witches find it incredibly useful for divining the future or making decisions that could have a large impact on their plans. Astrology is divination using the movement of the planets and stars. Of all the methods and forms of fortune-telling, Astrology is the most famous and probably the most widely practiced. If you want to master Astrology, the first thing to learn is the meanings of the planets. Once you have done this, you learn about the signs of the zodiac and then the houses. Finally, you can eat up more advanced stuff like aspects, squares, etc.
· Augury: Augury is the practice from ancient Roman religion of interpreting omens from the observed behavior of birds. There are several methods of Augury. One form of Augury involves birds in flight. Diviners would watch the way birds were flying and interpret their movements, interactions, speed, etc. Another type of Augury consists of interpreting the actions of birds on the ground. A diviner would ask a question, throw some corn, and interpret the way the bird eats.
· Automatic writing: Automatic writing is a a process of channeling information from beyond the conscious mind, in which you can learn to tap into a higher level of inspiration that stems from beyond your conscious mind. The activity requires disconnecting from the conscious mind to allow the pen to be guided by the subconscious, the intuition, or an outside intelligence. Automatic writing is a great way to begin your practice of contacting your angels or spirit guides if you're uncomfortable with other ways of contact.
· Belomancy (Arrow divination): Deciphering the will of the Gods and spirits in relation to the movements of arrows.
· Bibliomancy: Bibliomancy is divination using books. To practice Bibliomancy, all that you must do is ask for guidance, open a book, and read whichever page or paragraph you feel drawn to; this is your message. Typically, you would use a religious or spiritual book such as The Bible or, even, The Egyptian Book of the Dead. However, don't overcomplicate Bibliomancy: any book will do just fine.
· Bone reading (Osteomancy): Throwing bones, also called osteomancy, is an ancient form of divination. Throwing bones means to cast a collection of bones, seashells, stones and other items onto a hard surface and then read messages and patterns that emerge. Each piece of the collection means something different and depending on how it lands will give the reader insight.
· Brontomancy: Brontomancy is the practice of divination by means of the assessment of the characteristics of the sound of thunder. Interpretation depend upon intensity, direction, lenght and distance from the obsever.
· Capnomancy: Capnomancy (otherwise known as libanomancy) is a method of divination using smoke. This is done by looking at the movements of the smoke after a fire has been made.
· Casting: Casting involves throwing charms and interpreting how they land in relation to each other and/or reading how they fall on a divination board. Technically, Osteomancy can be called Casting, but Casting cannot be called Osteomancy unless bone is used.
· Cartomancy: Cartomancy is fortune-telling or divination using a deck of cards.
· Ceromancy: Ceromancy is divination using the shapes formed from the melted wax of a candle and is essentially a type of candle divination. The easiest way to practice Ceromancy is to solidify the wax with water.
· Chirognomy: Chirognomy is a form of hand divination. Chirognomy is the practice of reading someone's personality based on their hand shape, fingers, etc. As there are many readers who prefer to practice a more holistic approach to reading, Chirognomy is currently the most common form of Palmistry, and it's more focused on reading the shape of the hands and fingers rather than the lines.
· Chiromancy: Chiromancy is another form of palm divination. Chiromancy is the art of reading the lines in order to divine the future. Fortune tellers read the palm lines in order to give predictions about the future.
· Clairaudience: Some people can hear things outside of what is considered a normal range of hearing. These people are sometimes channels or mediums who can hear voices from the spirit world.
· Clairovoyance: Clairvoyance means "clear seeing," and those with this gift are said to have a sixth sense and can see energy. Often considered extrasensory perception, clairvoyance allows a person to see things outside of the typical physical perceptive range. Clairvoyance may come in the form of seeing auras, frequent daydreaming, and, surprisingly, a fantastic sense of direction.
· Cledonism: Divination based on things you hear, often by chance. Not be confused with so-called 'clear hearing' or clairaudience. If you're clairaudient, you have the ability to hear spirit using your psychic senses. By contrast, a cledonomancer will hear things in real life, such as words spoken by people, something on TV, or a significant song will come on the radio during a crisis.
· Conchomancy: Conchomancy is fortune-telling using seashells. Placing a seashell on your ear and analyzing the sound counts as Conchomancy. You can also use seashells in Casting divination.
· Crystal Ball Reading: Crystal ball reading, or scrying, is a method of fortune-telling that uses crystal balls. Crystal balls come in all shapes and sizes and can be made from crystals, such as quartz or glass.
· Dactylomancy: Dactylomancy is a Greek term which translates as 'finger divination.' Traditionally, Dactylomancy is practiced using a ring. However, technically, any form of divination which uses the finger could count as Dactylomancy, but most people know Dactylomancy as the type of divination which uses rings. To practice Dactylomancy, first, you need to tie a ring to a piece of string. You then will think of your question then lift the string so that the ring is suspended in the air. Finally, you will interpret the sway of the ring as being a yes, no, or maybe.
· Dice Divination: Dice divination is a method of divination that uses dice. You can use regular dice or special fortune-telling dice created for the purpose.
· Dobutsu Uranai: Dobutsu Uranai is a modern type of fortune-telling horoscope that originated in Japan. There are 12 signs in Dobutsu Uranai and – like in other types of Astrology – you are assigned your sign based on your date of birth. Also, like other systems in Astrology, your sign is said to tell you a lot about your personality.
· Domino Divination: Domino Divination is similar to Dice Divination, but the system involves using regular dominos. Two domino tiles are pulled, and the numbers of each are interpreted.
· Dowsing: Divination by the use of a pendulum, forked stick or metal rod. Great for yes or no questions. Can be used with your own designed charts for answers and is a very flexible tool.
· Etteilla Tarot: The Etteilla system is also hard to master with regular Tarot cards, and there are cards in this system that are not in regular Tarot. In some respects, the Etteilla Tarot is like regular Tarot. Etteilla has four suits; Wands, Cups, Swords, and Coins, each with ten pips, a Page, Knight, Queen, and King. Etteilla also comes with twenty-two Majors with some familiar faces (Justice, Temperance). However, that's where the similarities end. Etteilla cards are always read with reversals, which have their own unique meanings. There are 156 interpretations to learn in Etteilla compared to the seventy-eight of modern Tarot.
· Favomancy: Favomancy is a type of divination that interprets the way beans or, sometimes, peas, fall.
· Geomancy: Geomancy is a class of divination methods that involves interpreting markings on the ground. Astrological Geomancy combines astrology and inner consiousness, wherein a set of random dots are correlated to a type of astrological chart.
· Graphology: Graphology is the use of handwriting analysis to find larger meanings, such as the mental or emotional state of the writer. Graphology can also be used to determine certain personality characteristics about the person whose handwriting is analyzed.
· Gypsy Fortune-Telling Cards: Gypsy Fortune-Telling Cards are a subset of Cartomancy. The cards in a Gypsy Fortune-Telling deck may or may not depict several things: Items from everyday life, Feelings and Events.
· Haruspicy: Diving the will of the Gods based on the livers of sacrificed the livers of sacrificed goats, sheep and chicken.
· Ifa Divination: Ifá is a method of divination and religious system which originated in Western Africa. Ifá divination is a component of several ATRs and is practiced by priests and priestesses.
· Iching: The Iching is the most well-known Chinese form of divination in the West. The method involves throwing coins multiple times, taking note of how they land, and interpreting the pattern created based on the Book of Changes.
· Jiaobeu/Poe: Poe is a form of divination which is popular in Taiwan, particularly in Taoist temples. The system involves asking a question and then throwing two 'moon blocks' on the ground. The position which the blocks land will give you your answer, which will typically be a simple yes or no.
· Kau Cim: Kau Cim is a type of fortune-telling that originated in China and is popular in Buddhist and Taoist temples. Known as Chi Chi Sticks in the Western world, the method involves asking a question, drawing a Kau Cim stick from a tube, and interpreting the meaning concerning the issue.
· Kipper Cards: Kipper is a 36 card divination which originated in Germany. Although it is currently most popular in German-speaking communities, in recent years, it has begun to be picked up by English speaking diviners.
· Lenormand: Lenormand is a thirty-six card reading system that uses Lenormand cards. Like several other forms of Cartomancy, Lenormand began as a card game (Game of Hope) and developed into a kind of divination.
· Libanomancy: Libanomancy is divination using incense smoke.
· Lithomancy: Lithomancy is the correct term for divination using stones. Although the term can apply to any rocks, in modern prophecy, it is usually reserved for divination using crystal tumbled stones such as amethyst and tiger's eye.
· Mahjong: Mahjong is a card game that is popular in China. As with playing cards, dominoes and dice, Mahjong cards can be employed for divination.
· Mi Kayu Ura: Mi Kayu Ura is a Japanese fortune-telling method that uses rice or beans and is traditionally performed fifteen days after the new moon.
· Mirror Scrying: Mirror Scrying, especially using black obsidian mirrors, is mainly associated with Mesoamerican culture. Before mirrors, scryers used bowls of water to divine the future, but the use of water never went out of fashion.
· Moleosophy: Moleosophy is a system of divination that assigns special significance to moles. The shape or body part which a mole appears is interpreted as symbolizing good fortune or bad luck in that area.
· Necromancy: Necromancy is a method of divination that uses the spirits of the dead. Because there is usually some ritual component involved, Necromancy is also classed as a type of magic or witchcraft.
· Nephomancy: Nephomancy is a method of divination that involves seeing shapes in clouds and then interpreting those shapes as being signs which are of spiritual significance.
· Nggam: A fortune-telling method which reads the movements of crabs and spiders.
· Numerology: Numerology is a method of divination using numbers. It is similar to astrology in that your life path number and horoscope tell you information about your present and future based on your birth.
· O-Mikuju: O-Mikuji is a Japanese method of divination that involves randomly selecting a scroll of paper that has a pre-written prophecy on it.
· Ogham: Ogham is a type of divination which claims ancient British origin (although historians discredit this) and which uses sticks to predict the future or get advice. Each rod in Ogham is engraved with a letter from the Ogham alphabet (which, unlike the alphabet, actually is of ancient in origin).
· Oneiromancy: Dream interpretation is possibly one of the most ancient methods of divination. The practice of oneiromancy – dream interpretation – helps the practitioner predict the future based on their dreams or the dreams of others. Experts suggest keeping a dream journal at your bedside so you can record your dreams immediately upon waking up. Then, finding the meaning behind your dream is as easy as a quick Google search.
· Oracle Cards: Oracle cards are a form of Cartomancy. While most other types of card divination are used for fortune-telling, Oracle cards tend to focus mostly on giving advice.
· Ouija:
· Palmistry: Divination based on the study of the lines and symbols on hands. Palmistry can be separated into two main branches; Chirognomy and Chiromancy.
· Phrenology: Phrenology was once classed as science and involved reading someone's health, character, and temperament based on measurements taken of their skull.
· Plastromancy: Plastromancy is a type of divination which involves burning the shell of a turtle and interpreting the burn makes or cracks made as a result of being exposed to the heat.
· Playing Cards: An ordinary pack of playing cards can be used for fortune-telling. Many card readers read with playing cards before they move onto other methods of Cartomancy. There is a lot of information out there about reading with playing cards, but it is not a simple system to master.
· Pyromancy: Pyromancy is divination using fire. Technically, candle divination, Xylomancy, and any divination involving burning come under Pyromancy.
· Rhabdomancy: Rhabdomancy is divination using rods or sticks. Belomancy and dowsing rods come under the subdivision of Rhabdomancy.
· Runes: Rune divination is a prevalent method of divination that uses runes to predict the future or get advice. Use of stones and ceramic squares inscribed with the mggickal alphabet of Germanic, Scandinavian or Norse symbols. Excellent for dream analysis, spells, talismans and general divination.
· Scapulimancy: Scapulimancy is a type of Osteomancy (bone divination) that uses shoulder blade bones (scapulae). In ancient times, the shoulders of sacrificed animals were examined, and messages from the Gods/spirits were deciphered from any shapes or markings found.
· Tarot: Tarot divination is a form of Cartomancy (card divination) that uses special Tarot cards. Tarot cards are similar to playing cards in that they have four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, and Coins) plus Court Cards (Kings, Queens, Knights, and Pages). Unlike playing cards, Tarot cards have 22 extra cards (Major Arcana). The most popular unillustrated deck is the Tarot de Marseilles, and the most popular illustrated deck is The Rider Waite Smith Tarot.
· Tasseomancy: Tasseomancy, also known as Tea Leaf Reading, is one of the best-known types of fortune-telling. Tealeaf reading involves interpreting the shapes of loose tea leaves as they appear in a cup.
· Teraphim: Teraphim were small idols used in divination, which were popular enough to be mentioned several times in the Bible, but their function has been lost to time. It is possible they were either selected as a form of lots, consulted in mediumship, or both. Probably the closest you can get to Teraphim nowadays is fetishism.
· Xylomancy: Xylomancy is a type of divination which involves burning wood.

[Recommendation] Solar dive watch, 200m+ WR, sapphire crystal, offset crown, < 43mm

Looking for a dive watch with these requirements:
  1. 200m or better water resistance. Screw down crown.
  2. Sapphire glass.
  3. Offset crown, anywhere except in the 3 o clock position.
  4. Smaller than 43mm.
  5. Solar, so its reliable and I never need to open the case.
I would prefer if it had a light dial, also like titanium cases but these are flexible.
Aesthetics wise, I really like the Seiko turtle. If only it came in a quartz/solar variant.
No set budget.

Watches I've already looked at:

[SOTC] It may be time to start culling the herd...

[SOTC] It may be time to start culling the herd...

https://preview.redd.it/b6z4n2anntl51.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4322aab5e91187c78d68127e8493e115258e447
My collection's grown/growing quite a bit and as the addiction has taken hold I'm thinking it might be time to make some tough choices. Plenty of room in the box, but hard to justify the ones that don't get much wrist time (or that I've "outgrown" in my "journey").
Top tier of my watch box are the definite keepers; bottom tier are the ones I'm considering parting ways with. Please feel free to convince me otherwise!
From left to right, top and bottom, of top tier:
Seiko 7009-8279-P automatic. To be honest, I find it hideous. However, it's never leaving; it was the first watch my father bought to commemorate getting a "serious job". He bought it in 1978 and god damn if it doesn't still run. Never serviced, once. I shudder to think what it looks like on a Timegrapher but since I don't have one I'll just marvel at the fact that it's still going.
Seiko SSA409 "Star BaHoneycomb". This was a case of love at first sight. It ticks all my boxes for watches beautiful and just a little bit odd. The alternating matte/glossy hexagons and the open heart surrounded by gold makes me think of a busy little hive right on my wrist. Opinions may be divided but for me it's an absolute stunner (I do wish it were just a little bit "yellower" in person, though.)
Seiko SBDB013 Spring Drive "Tuna". My grail watch, a massive jump in expense versus the others in my collection at the time, and the 500-lb. gorilla of the collection (but it wears a little smaller than you'd think - though height is a different thing entirely). The Spring Drive movement is hypnotic, though perhaps a little soulless as it doesn't tick at all (neither visibly or audibly). In the lower tier you'll find its predecessor in the collection, the Street Series Prospex, which I owned for about a week before pulling the trigger on this guy - a test run to see if I could handle a Tuna. Turns out I could.
Halios Delfin. I wasn't in the market for another dive watch after the Tuna, I swear I wasn't. But it's another case of seeing something that just struck me as gorgeous - a sleekness that other dive watches don't often exhibit (I formerly lusted after an Oris Aquis for similar reasons). Fantastic domed crystal and still in the honeymoon phase after a couple of weeks with it.
Marloe Coniston "Bluebird". Real talk: I thought I'd be in love with it, but there's something about this fella that just doesn't quite gel with me. It's not the build quality - it's well made. It's not the colourway exactly - it's unique and interesting and I'm quite fond of the blue/yellow contrasts, not to mention the clever reverse lume ring. Gosh, I can't say why this doesn't make my heart sing, but it just doesn't. That said, I have the opposite to say about the next one, and I've got a little Marloe collection brewing so I'm keeping it on the roster in hopes someday I'll see it in a new light.
Marloe Cherwell. So here's what happened. After slavering over some discontinued Marloe models that I hope to someday acquire (Derwent, Lomond "Coffee" chronograph), and after considering the purchase of the Morar dive watch (and subsequently buying one for my girlfriend instead, so I could enjoy it vicariously), I felt like I was ready to start something with these young British upstarts. I waited for a reissue of the Coniston Bluebird but while I was waiting, this guy popped up on eBay. I said "why not", and bought it, thinking to myself "eh, I like it, but it'll just fill out the eventual Marloes". When it arrived I instantly formed a bond. Hand wound, far more gorgeous in person than photos appear - a 3-dimensionality to the dial, a beautiful double-domed sapphire crystal... and it convinced me that small seconds aren't necessarily aesthetically terrible when they ghost their way across an unmarked dial like some kind of zen-garden rake. It's the one I didn't expect to fall in love with, but did.
Hamilton Jazzmaster H32515555 (because yeah I remember that ref# without looking it up in my collection database...). My first "real" watch, maybe, depending on your definition. My first automatic/mechanical. I love the 1950's styling, the textured tiny "H's" in the inner circle, the shape of the numerals. It makes me feel like I'm an old time detective or something. It doesn't get a lot of wrist time nowadays but it's not going anywhere and it's suitable for just about any occasion in my exceptionally sedentary life as I'm not doing anything that requires a G-Shock (fortunately for me since I can't get into their aesthetic, try as I might).
Lilienthal Berlin "Zeitgeist" automatic, blue-grey dial. It's gotta be the right kind of day, with the right kind of light. When it is, there's a lovely sunburst slate-coloured effect, and when there isn't, well it still looks pretty damn clean and minimal in a way I can appreciate. This was a gift from my girlfriend and so it's another one that'll always stay in the collection (because we will never break up. Ever).
Bottom tier - the contenders for removal, at varying degrees of sadness:

https://preview.redd.it/l09a13irntl51.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c11c9eaa3713f9cb49719a5adacacddd0aba48b8
Mido All Dial 8340. Okay, so I was coming off the high from the Hamilton and really pumped about automatic watches at this point. I saw this guy in a pawn shop and picked it up. COSC-certified with certificate and everything. Though I now consider what I paid almost laughably low - they definitely didn't know what they had - at the time it was quite a stretch for me. Not as much as the next one, mind you, but still a stretch. I still have a great love for Mido - I think they're somewhat unsung among other Swatch Group makers, at least in the U.S. They also sometimes get really out there with their designs and I can respect them for being the red-headed step-child in that regard. That said, it's not getting worn as often as it used to, and I'm thinking it might be time to send it on down the dusty trail.
Mido All Dial Titanium. The next phase of my Mido journey and my first titanium watch. Exceptionally light and comfortable and I wore the shit out of it for quite a long time indeed. As the habit grew and my sense of what "speaks" to me changed, I found things about it to nitpick - the way the "9" looks on the dial, almost oriented incorrectly. The way it strides the line between refined and maybe a little bit toy-like. I don't know, I still waffle on this one, but I certainly had my love affair with it at one point. It needs, and deserves, a service - so I'll be holding it for a while until that's taken care of at very least, most likely.
Seiko SNE537P1 "Street Series" Prospex. "Hey", I thought at the watch shop. "That's pretty effin' weird". I hadn't seen a Seiko Tuna yet. I thought it was ugly, but I just kept looking at it until it was suddenly mine, almost like it just appeared on my wrist on the way home while I was woolgathering. It's super comfortable and low-maintenance and if I weren't on the point of looking for the One True Quartz that supercedes it, I'd probably still hang on to it. But a week later, knowing the Tuna was the one for me, I scraped together the money for the Spring Drive Tuna and the rest was history. I've worn it a few times lately, but in a wistful way, as if to confirm to myself what I already know- that it's been supplanted for me in my collection. A lovely pavement-like dial texture and the ability to grab-and-go isn't quite enough to save it from its redundancy.
Fossil/Philippe Starck PH1116. Yeah okay I was young once, and this weird-ass chunky band of rubber with a red LED display that shone through the translucent, black, dolphin-skin-like face took me for a ride. It looks like something out of Blade Runner but I've moved past it - pretty far past it. But it's cool still kinda, innit? There's a way to edit a scrolling display on the watch as well, so you can have it scroll a little banner message if you want to, which I have absolutely no clue why anyone would want but why the hell not Fossil, throw that in there, you do you.
Citizen Axiom. I liked the Movado look, and the black on black aesthetic with the minimal dial and the barely-legible hands and the black bezel around the whole thing - yeah, it was cool, man. It still kinda is cool. But if I want something to wear to an art opening, I've got other choices now, and I don't go to art openings pretty much ever. And sometimes I want to be able to see what time it is, like, right away. But yeah man. It's pretty slick.
Seiko SSB025PCP1 Meca-Quartz. I've always found chronographs just a little too busy looking for me, and I rarely have the need to time anything, or if I do, I usually find another way of doing it (phone, google assistant, whatever). That said I thought I'd pick one up and see if it changed my mind. You know what? It kinda did. Kinda. But now I'm looking for just one, just one (he says), and if it's going to represent the only chronograph in my collection it's got to be something more. It's a nice little piece for what it is though, and I made sure to select a meca-quartz to get that sweepy chrono hand and the clicky buttons. Changing to a leather strap from the factory bracelet also gave it a much classier look, IMO. Nonetheless - probably a goner, since i'll someday replace it (with something from Marloe, or someone else... maybe someday the Speedmaster will speak to me in a way it still doesn't).
If you read this far, thanks for sticking with me. All comments welcome, and I'm not offended easily if you want to slag me off a little bit too. It's all in good fun. If you feel like you need to grab me by the lapels and shake me and tell me each one of these is a stone cold classic and I should be ashamed of myself for thinking of parting company with them I'm happy to hear that too. Except the Fossil. That albatross is outta here for sure.

Quartz watches are popular among all types of watch wearers, from children’s novelty watches all the way up to masculine dive timepieces from some highly-esteemed brands.
