50 of the best iOS games according to me. (Links and descriptions included)

I've posted portions of this list before and it has been generally well received. Anyway, I just landed on 50 so felt I would share the whole list. Here they are in (mostly) no particular order:
1) The Walking Dead - if you're interested in emotionally story driven games at all, get this on whatever platform you can play it on. Never before has a video game affected me so emotionally as this one did.
2) Hero Academy - multiplayer turn based tactics game. This is the only iOS game I have continually played regularly for over two years now.
3) Frozen Synapse - more multiplayer turn based tactics - except this time turns play out simultaneously. If you're familiar with the old Maxis classic Robosport, that is exactly what this game is, it's nearly identical in every way.
4) XCOM: Enemy Unknown - more turn based tactics. This one is a pretty faithful port of the console / PC game. It's a beautifully done port too - it makes the transition to tablet controls flawlessly. I highly recommend this one.
5) Bastion - port of the console / PC game. This is an action / RPG / "twin stick shooter" sort of thing. I have mixed feelings about how well it controls on a tablet, but it controls well enough that it's worth picking it up if you're at all interested. Fantastic soundtrack and voice over narration really make it stand out.
6) Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP - sort of a modern take on classic point and click games. Amazing soundtrack. Highly recommend this one.
7) Tiny Wings - very good "casual" style mobile game. Very charming art direction, soundtrack, and mechanics.
8) Marple - literally a million challenging logic puzzles in one app. I've been playing this one for years now.
9) Trainyard - probably my favorite puzzle game on iOS. A very simple concept that offers very challenging puzzles. Also, the ability to save replays and send to people is a lot of fun.
10) Cut The Rope - this one, along with most of the variations on the App Store, is just a heck of a lot of fun. It's a pretty simple game but is always a fun way to kill a couple of minutes.
11) Little Inferno - this won't appeal to some people, but I found it remarkable for the not too-subtle meta commentary it makes about modern (particularly mobile) game design and in-app purchases. If you like games with a message, you may enjoy this.
12) The Room - and The Room 2 - solid puzzle games in a similar vein as something like Myst (though these are nowhere near the size and scope of Myst).
13) Autumn Dynasty - and Autumn Dynasty Warlords - real time strategy games with beautiful and unique art direction. These were built from the ground up with iOS in mind and it shows.
14) Sid Meier's Ace Patrol - turn based tactical air combat. This game is a lot of fun, but I have to criticize it a little because each of the different campaigns are virtually identical (and very short). Still, I don't even mind much because I have so much fun replaying this one.
15) New World Colony - multiplayer turn based strategy game similar to Catan. This is an excellent game if you think you can reliably get a few friends to play with you. If not, you might want to pass on this one.
16) BANG! - old western themed card game (supports multiplayer) where you have to be the last man standing. This is a hell of a lot of fun.
17) Poker Night at the Inventory 2 - play poker with Brock Samson, Ash (of Evil Dead / Army of Darkness), Claptrap, Sam (of Sam and Max), and GladOS. This is a pretty hilarious game, but don't waste your time if you're not a fan of poker.
18) Saturday Morning RPG - 80s nostalgia action RPG. This is a lot of fun and is filled with tons of great humor, especially for those of us who remember the 80s.
19) Uplink - port of a PC / Mac game about hacking. Sort of an adventure game in some ways, this one is hard to describe.
20) Osmos - you play a molecule that swallows up other, smaller molecules. Beautiful, soothing, fun.
21) Splice : Tree of Life - fun and challenging puzzle game.
22) Spaceward Ho! - turn based strategy. Build up a massive interstellar fleet of shark headed dreadnaughts and crush your opponents. Or squids. You can also build squids. And eat your opponents. Or your own people. Hee-ya!
23) Kingdom Rush - definitely one of the best that tower defense has to offer.
24) Crimson: Steam Pirates - pretty funny steam-punk pirate adventure game with a pretty unique tactics based combat system.
25) World of Goo - fun physics based puzzler.
26) Device 6 - this one is hard to describe. The gameplay is somewhere between a text adventure and an audiovisual novel. This is definitely a very experimental sort of game, but I really liked it. It's not for everyone, but if you're looking for something new, and lots of reading doesn't scare you, give this game a look.
27) QuizUp - multiplayer trivia game. This is probably the best trivia game on iOS. Slick interface, great sounds and design, quick match structure, and more trivia categories than you can count with entirely new categories added on a regular basis.
28) FTL: Faster Than Light - sort of a rogue-like / adventure game. Lots of resource management, unforgiving difficult gameplay, just all around crazy fun. Outfit your starship, recruit a diverse crew, traverse the galaxy and stop the rebels!
29) Ticket to Ride - a locomotive themed board game that supports multiplayer. This game is a lot of fun if you can find a regular group to play with.
30) Catan - another board game that has seen quite a bit of popularity recently. This game is a lot of fun and even supports a couple of the expansions (though they are $5 in-app purchases).
31) Beyond Ynth - a puzzle game with some light platforming elements. This is a good game with some surprisingly challenging puzzles at later stages.
32) Civilization Revolution - this is similar to the console versions of the game, though somewhat less robust, and it's sort of "Civ Lite" when compared to the PC version but that's not really a bad thing.
33) Out There - conceptually this is sort of similar to FTL but it focuses much more on the exploration aspect as opposed to the combat aspect of FTL. It's probably safe to say that if you like FTL there's a reasonably good chance you may enjoy this as well.
34) Wayward Souls - procedurally generated levels wrapped around an action-adventure rogue-like that sort of plays like the bastard child of an old school JRPG and Gauntlet. It's as awesome as it sounds.
35) Talisman - classic fantasy themed board game that also supports online multiplayer. This was one of my favorite board games 20 years ago and it made the transition to iOS flawlessly. This is a perfect example of how board games should be made for tablets. There are in app purchases available for expansions to the main game but none are necessary to enjoy this game.
36) Shadowrun Returns - turn-based tactical RPG set in a cyberpunk world with a great noir storyline. Seriously one of the best games iOS has to offer. Fair warning: there are numerous reports of this game not playing nice with older model iPads (lots of crashes and lost progress) - I've been playing on an iPad 3 ("new iPad") without incident, but earlier models apparently have a hard time with this game.
37) Sword of Fargoal - classic retro rogue-like with procedurally generated dungeons. Very simple yet endlessly entertaining game.
38) Knights of Pen and Paper - ever play Dungeons and Dragons / Pathfinder? Well, this is sort of like that but not exactly. It's an enjoyable romp though, check it out if you're a fan of pen and paper RPGs (and maybe even if you're not).
39) Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 - two very good RPG experiences - these are classics for a reason. The touch controls aren't perfect, but all in all I think they made the transition to iOS fairly well.
40) Thomas Was Alone - a charming story about quadrilaterals, Thomas Was Alone is a puzzle-platformer ported from PC / consoles to iOS. This is a really solid game that makes the transition to iOS with genuine aplomb.
41) Super KO Boxing 2 - the next best thing to Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! This is basically a modern take / knock-off of the old Nintendo classic. It looks great and plays very well on a touch screen, I'm actually surprised there aren't more clones of this in the App Store.
42) Arkanoid - an old take on the breakout / brick breaker genre. Arkanoid has always been my favorite of these due to all the power ups and other unique features it has compared to other breakout clones.
43) Cargo-bot - this is a logic-based "program" puzzler. You have to create a set of instructions to program a mechanical arm to move boxes around to solve puzzles. Starts out pretty easy but gets pretty tricky after a while.
44) SpaceChem - control a machine used to combined various chemicals to solve fake science puzzles. This game is so addictive it's probably a crime.
45) Oceanhorn - this one is sort of like Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. It's one of those rare "AAA" experiences to be found on iOS (XCOM being another). It plays well, looks great, gets frequent updates from the developer (recent 60fps update), and has absolutely no IAPs. This is definitely one worthy of supporting.
46) Skulls of the Shogun - turn-based strategy / tactics supporting both single and multiplayer. This is a really great game polished to near perfection. I highly recommend this one to anyone even remotely interested.
47) Blek - a very unique and beautiful puzzle game built specifically for touch screen devices. This game is kind of hard to explain, so go watch the trailer.
48) The Wolf Among Us - by the same developers as The Walking Dead (first one on this list), this game plays very similarly but takes place in a very different world. I haven't yet completed the first season, but I'm far enough along that I feel confident recommending this to anyone that enjoyed The Walking Dead season 1.
49) Year Walk - this, like Device 6 above (same developer), is a very experimental type of game. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I will give the following warning: if you are the sort of person to judge a game based on the length of the experience rather than the depth and quality of said experience I would advise you to stay clear of this one as it can be completed start to finish in under two hours (under an hour even, if you're speedy). Your experience may be improved markedly by downloading and perusing the free companion app.
50) Pulse : Volume One - rhythm games aren't usually my cup of tea, but I quite enjoyed this one.
Edit: I probably just didn't mention your favorite game because I've never played it (either that or because your favorite game stinks). Leave a comment and I'll see what I can do about that. Also, I'm sharing this list because I think iOS gaming (mobile gaming in general) gets a bad rep. I think there are plenty of high quality games available that not many people know about, so if you think I missed one share it with a comment and spread the word. Get more people playing the games you love and more games you love will be developed.

Best entry level MOBA games on iOS?

All this talk about Wild Rift coming in March has got me kind of sucked into the hype. However, I have never tried or experienced a MOBA game as of late. Which MOBA's currently on the App Store would you recommend to get my feet wet before WR arrives?

Maybe if u guys are interested in these types of games u would know. The only thing I care mostly about is that I want it to have many types of fishes or sea creatures. I don’t want to catch the same 5 fishes everytime I fish I want variety

A thing about deeeep.io that I'm sure is one of it's best qualities as a game.

I feel like one of the main reasons deeeep.io is widely loved by the people who know it is because of it's accessibility.
Every single animal in the game, low tiers and high tiers alike, is simple, or at least has a simple playstyle. There is no animal in the game that is hard to learn.
There are animals that magnify this detail, those being the OG tanks, whale and cachalot. They both are arguably the easiest animals in this game to learn and play. To hunt, just click in the direction of your enemy, and keep your mouse in the direction of the enemy. The reason we see so many noobs picking these two animals in particular is just that they found them the easiest to play with.
Even the animals with a high skill ceiling such as the grabbers, eleseal, eagle, and the hit&runners, are all fairly easy to learn and are easy to get the preferred playstyle of the animal by looking at their abilities.

why pearl defense is best game mode for deeep io

ok this is why pearl defense is best mode first: reason is that in free for all there are teamers and others some are always hunting in groups of species that are not even theres i know its called free for all and that means no rules but they way they team like they always attack and they just don,t play the game fair another reason people target a lot of people sometimes will spawn kill target and low levels will always try to team or do something to get xp really quick i mean getting max is not the hardest thing but just stop targeting its way to annoying and others people are being toxic they always will attack and be toxic to the person 2nd or 3rd or 1st on the leaderboard i met a shark when i was 3rd place and the shark attacked me and got through my shield i was a leatherback and i decided to retreat i didn't want to die and they kept attacking me so i eventually got away but they were really toxic and this is why pearl defense is better then free for all and in the old game first version people team and you can't choose what you want and in team free for all well people are even more toxic like they farm people in there own group or when you asked very nicely and try your best to join and be part of the team they usually kick or be mean or do something annoying or they won't be fair sometimes they team in 2 teams well 2 groups teaming isnt bad its better then ffa thats my opinion now the next game mode 1v1 the 2nd best i would say 1v1 is fair but it glitches sometimes people are toxic mean in chat after you beat them or they beat you i beat this anaconda that thought they were good when they lidary spamming the grab so i was literally confused they even beat me a few times but i beat them more and i was annoyed because they were so toxic cursing wishing bad luck on me and being negative i try to be positive and nice but i just got mad and started to defend myself cause i can get defensive they striked first so i ignored them wished them bad luck bad and told them they were toxic i didn't want to be mean but i was just annoyed that is the 4th reason or 3rd why pearl defense is better then other game modes cause less people are toxic and more people try to be toxic so i play pearl defense more and not much of ffa or the other game modes mainly 1v1s and pearl defense i gues 1v1 has the 2nd place crown for my oppoinoin and pearl defense has the 1st crown anyways i just like pearl defense

Best iOS multiplayer games?

What are some of your favorites? I especially like simulation or puzzle style games, things with a slower pace. Not like fighting games or rpgs. I’m looking for games that require me to think, but not necessarily just solve puzzles explicitly.

Best engine for 2D games to publish to iOS?

I would love to use Godot as it is free and open source. However GameMaker and Buildbox look like they might be easier to publish to iOS specifically. I am not a programmer I did make a maze game in directo flash and used to understand that kind of scripting. More so I am an artist and want to make a few cheap or free games that my children can play. However a small amount of revenue to cover some of the development time/ cost / effort would be fantastic. Side scrolling simple platfomer games or possibly top down dodge objects games would be my goal. I don’t mind spending 20$ a month if need be. However is it possible to publish directly to the iOS App Store or would I be better of getting Godot and creating an apple dev account? Complicated question I know and I tried to find the answer on here and couldn’t find anything recent. Thanks for the advice.
